Looking to Volunteer in the Bolton Area? Become a BAAS befriender!

The Queen's Award for Voluntary ServiceDid you know that in June 2020 BAAS received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, in recognition of services to the autistic community of Bolton?

By volunteering with us you will become part of an award-winning charity. Our volunteers give their time and effort to make an incredible difference to the lives of autistic adults within Bolton, alleviating loneliness, building confidence and improving mental health.

We are now recruiting volunteer befrienders to become part of the BAAS family and would love to hear from YOU! By becoming a befriender with BAAS you will work closely with autistic adults and their families, exploring what the befriended wants in order to achieve their aspirations and maintain a sense of wellbeing.

Volunteers are provided with out of pocket expenses upon production of valid receipts, as well as receiving professional training and ongoing support to help you undertake your role.

We would also love to hear from you if you are a student and are interested in becoming a befriender to fulfil your course requirement hours, or would just like to learn more about autism.

If you have two hours a week to spare and would like to become part of an award-winning charity please contact Vicky, our Befriending Service Coordinator, to find out more:-

You can hear from one of our fantastic volunteers, Leanne, on why she chose to become a Volunteer Befriender.

“I chose to volunteer with BAAS as I recognise the importance of having a support network, having someone there for a good natter and to share thoughts and feelings. By becoming a befriender I can provide a much needed social connection for an autistic adult in my local community by meeting once a week, having a chat and generally enjoying each other’s company. It genuinely brings a wealth of personal satisfaction. It’s only two hours a week, but I know the difference those two hours make to someone who may otherwise be socially isolated.”
